Course structure
With the English Specialisation programme, you develop your intercultural understanding and global teaching skills so you are ready to meet the challenges of a diverse international classroom with empathy and adaptability. The programme is comprised of three interconnected strands, each designed to give you the knowledge and skills needed to teach English effectively in international secondary schools.
- Year 1 – Dive into the basics of language, learning about grammar, pronunciation, and how to teach English to others. You'll also start exploring literature and the evolution and impact of the English language.
- Year 2 – Get more practice teaching English, learn how to teach literature effectively, and work on your own language skills. You'll also start thinking about designing your own curriculum.
- Year 3 – Carry out teaching practice in international schools and have the chance to select minors to specialise in.
- Year 4 – Focus on advanced teaching skills, learn how to assess students, and explore how the arts connect to culture. You'll also complete your final teaching practice and projects.
