Key Summary
About: This summer fiction workshop (ENGLISH 90) covers narration, description, and dialogue. You write stories and join story workshops; may be repeated for credit. Prerequisite PWR 1 is waived in summer. You'll join Stanford Summer Session for college credit, meet peers from 50+ countries and access workshops, campus tours. Priority goes to undergraduates; you must attend the first class meeting to retain your spot.
Career Outcomes: The course builds storytelling, creative writing, editing, and narrative skills. Career opportunities include novelist, short-story writer, screenwriter, editor, content writer, and creative writing instructor; skills also apply to publishing, media, marketing, and nonprofit communications.
The elements of fiction writing: narration, description, and dialogue. Students write complete stories and participate in story workshops. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: PWR 1 (waived in the summer quarter). Note: First priority to Undergraduates. Students must attend the first class meeting to retain their roster spot.
