Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance

The course aims at training students to gain knowledge in the fields related to Accounting & Finance and also contribute to the all-round development of their personality. The course provides comprehensive knowledge of the field of Accounting & Finance . It helps students build challenging career in these areas and also paves way to taking up masters programmes in the field of Accounting , Finance and Management

Course Objectives

• To provide adequate knowledge and understanding about Accounting & Finance subjects to the students.
• To give adequate exposure to the operational environment in the field of accounting & finance.
• To prepare students to exploit opportunities being newly created in the accounting & finance field.
• To enable the students learn analytical skills through a guided project in the areas of finance, marketing , Human Resource or other areas of commerce.

upon completion of the B. Com Degree Programme, the graduate will be able

• PO1. To receive a thorough knowledge of the fundamentals and a quality education in all the core subjects essential for an undergraduate degree in Commerce.
• PO2. To build entrepreneurial skills required for innovation and creation of ideas.
• PO3. To develop effective communication skills and contemporary IT knowledge essential for joining the workforce or for further higher education.
• PO4. To be trained in the development of ethical, moral & human values in order to contribute to the well being of the society
• PO5. To acquire skills for the development of sustainable goals aligned to global, national & social issues.
• PO6. To develop leadership skills and the ability to work with groups for a common cause.
• PO7. To acquire the ability for critical thinking through the development of cognitive and decision making skills and an attitude of positive and lifelong learning in order to succeed in a dynamic environment

At the end of the programme, the students of B.Com (Accounting and Finance) will

• PSO1. Be completely acquainted with all branches of accounting required for a B.Com degree and have a thorough understanding of basic papers in finance.
• PSO2. Have exposure to computerized accounting and current trends in accounting and finance.
• PSO3. Have exposure to solving real time, practical problems/ cases , which will form part of skill assessment relating to a) Cost Accounting b) Taxation c) BRS d) Rectification of errors e) final accounts of a partnership firm / Company
• PSO4. Be able to critically evaluate and analyze financial statements.
• PSO5. have an overview of Indian Accounting standards.
