The IEC offers different levels of English instruction, from high beginning to advanced. Students should have basic reading and writing skills in English before enrolling in IEC classes. Students can expect as much as three hours of homework per day, including reading, writing, listening and speaking, grammar and other topics. In addition, students are encouraged to participate in IEC sponsored field trips and other cultural activities.
The IEC offers in-person programs. On-campus classes meet from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Full-time students are enrolled in 18-20 hours of class per week.
New students will take an English placement test during orientation to help the IEC determine the level that will allow the student to learn the most English.
