Key Summary
The twenty-third (23rd) edition of the Master MID in Interior Design organised in collaboration with POLI.design – Politecnico di Milano.
The syllabus is theoretical lessons, workshops, visits and lectures. The in-class training is completed with three months internship in an architect’s studio.

Characteristics and Aims
The Master MID in Interior Design organized with POLI.design – Politecnico di Milano, held in Italian, concentrates on designing contemporary interiors. The five project works are fundamental tools to assimilate an effective professional methodology. The program opens up the argument of conceiving a design and articulating it into a space; themes range from household environments; distribution; consumer spaces; hotels; design exhibitions. A pre-requisite for admission to the course is the knowledge of representational techniques, professional software and Italian language.
Duration
The 23rd edition of Master MID in Interior Design will start in March 2026 and will end in March 2027 for a total of 12 months (lessons and internship).
Attendance is mandatory and the presence is full-time.
Language
The Master course will be held in Italian. Foreign students are expected to reach an intermediate level of the Italian language. Advice and information on Italian language schools in Italy or abroad are also available.
Operational skills are consolidated within themed project work that addresses the production, promotion and design of environments, services and equipment in both domestic and public settings, from hospitality and leisure spaces to offices.
The course focuses on 5 didactic units:
- Culture of living – domestic space
- Consumption and distribution
- The hospitality sector and hotel spaces and wellness
- Exhibition
- Work Space
Each of these five areas has a dedicated workshop, which allows students of the MID master’s program in Interior Design to get a comprehensive education and be professionals who can immediately face the challenges of today’s working world.
Moreover, the students will study the Design Milano system in relation to Milan Design Week, interior design theory and criticism, as well as an in-depth look at consumption and distribution, marketing and communication.
Culture of Living - Domestic Space
This section explores the transformation of domestic spaces, from traditional living practices to modern trends and futuristic designs. Interiors are seen as symbolic narratives, shaped by cultural approaches and sensory experiences. The focus includes handcrafted and mass-produced elements, furniture design, comfort, and the overall meaning of living spaces.
Consumption and Distribution
The psychology of consumption and the evolution of retail spaces are analyzed, from traditional shops to modern malls. Emphasis is placed on communication strategies, product placement, and material innovation, with insights drawn from industries like fashion, luxury, and electronics.
The Hospitality Sector and Hotel Spaces and Wellness (Studio Simone Michelli)
Hotel design is examined from public areas to private rooms, highlighting functionality, comfort, and material selection. Multifunctional spaces and iconic case studies illustrate the principles of hospitality design.
Exhibition (Studio Migliore + Servetto)
The focus is on designing immersive and communicative exhibitions, creating spatial experiences that engage and inform contemporary interiors.
Work Space (Studio Progetto CMR)
Modern work environments, including virtual and smart offices, are explored, emphasizing how design impacts productivity, comfort, and workplace dynamics.
After successfully completing the Master’s programs, once matriculated at SPD and POLI.design – Politecnico di Milano, you will be awarded the first-level University Master's Diploma recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research and receive the equivalent of 60 ECTS credits.
The Master is intended for Italians and foreigners graduated in many different fields. Limited number of vacancies.
Internship
At the end of the classes, a 3-month internship at a company in which to put your skills into practice is always guaranteed.
Professional Output
At the end of the Master’s the professionals will have acquired the strategic vision in design and the solid practical capabilities necessary for facing the professional environment on a successful and equal basis.
