Introduction

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is one of the most popular English language tests recognized by thousands of institutions around the world,

among others by government agencies, professional bodies, companies and employers and almost all universities in the UK, as well as many schools in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, China, Korea, Hong Kong , the Netherlands and many other countries. The IELTS certificate is necessary when we plan to go to English-speaking countries to start studies, work or do an internship there.

In Poland, however, IELTS may be necessary if you are applying for a job in a company that requires knowledge of English. Two modules are available. Academic is intended for people planning to study in English. It is more scientific in nature, more attention is paid to linguistic correctness, it places greater emphasis on knowledge of grammar, and General Training is intended for people who would like to gain professional experience or undergo an internship in English-speaking countries. In each version, the exam consists of four parts: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Listening and Speaking are the same for both modules, but the Reading and Writing sections are different. The written parts of the exam last approximately 3 hours (without breaks). First Listening (40 minutes), then Reading (60 minutes), finally Writing (60 minutes). The oral part of the exam may take place on the same day or 7 days before or 7 days after the written part and consists of an individual (and recorded) conversation with the examiner. It lasts approximately 11-14 minutes.
