Bali offers a range of accommodation options to cater to different preferences and budgets. The options include:

  • Private Houses or Villas: Renting villas in Bali is a common practice among our students. They often form groups to share the cost, making it a fantastic way to enjoy an exclusive living experience on a friendly budget. The cost per room per month can start from around $300, with no upper limit as Bali boasts a vast range of villas that escalate in luxury and price. These communal living arrangements often come with enticing amenities like a private pool, garden, and housekeeping services.
  • Apartments: A more individual or modern living option with varying price ranges. Apartments provide a sense of privacy while still being part of the community.
  • Homestays: Homestays in Bali refer to staying in private, family-owned small hotels, villas, or bungalows. It’s a unique arrangement that allows you to connect with local families while having your own private space. The homestay experience, while being economical, provides a blend of cultural immersion and a sense of community.
  • PIB College Housing: Politeknik International Bali (PIB) in Tabanan offers student housing on their campus. This could be a convenient choice for those enrolled at PIB, providing a comfortable living environment within close proximity to the college facilities.

Studying in Bali requires students to be familiar with specific visa regulations to ensure compliance with Indonesian requirements. Notably, since the coronavirus pandemic, Indonesia transitioned to an eVisa system in 2021, which streamlines the application process and minimizes the need to visit an embassy or consulate.

For international students planning to study in Bali, the recommended visa for most of our programs is the Visit Visa B211A. This visa is specially designed for educational purposes in Indonesia. It’s vital to understand that studying on a Visa on Arrival or any other visa not dedicated to studying is not allowed.

Key Points about the Visa B211A:

    • Purpose: Primarily intended for Training and Short Courses.
    • Validity: 90 days from its issuance date (the window you have to enter the country after the visa is granted).
    • Stay Duration: 60 days from your date of arrival in Indonesia.
    • Extensions: It can be extended twice, with each extension allowing an additional 60 days.
    • Total Possible Stay: Up to 180 days, considering the two extensions.
    • Entry Type: Single Entry, meaning the visa becomes invalid for re-entry once you leave the country.
    • Sponsorship: Typically provided by the educational institution you’re enrolled in.
    • Price: IDR 6,000,000 (≈ $400) for 120 days; IDR 8,800,000 for a full duration of 180 days.

When you secure a spot in any of our programs, the educational institution usually acts as your local sponsor for the eVisa. The entirety of the visa application process, from receiving the Letter of Acceptance to obtaining a Sponsor Letter, is integrated with your enrollment procedure. A designated Visa Agency will oversee your application, ensuring a straightforward and efficient process. This agency will connect with you after successful registration and enrollment, guiding you through all subsequent visa-related steps.

At StudyInBali, while we do not offer a specific scholarship program for international students, there are several avenues for financial support. Numerous scholarship programs and financial support options are available to international students. Although lists of common scholarship programs can be found on websites like Go Abroad.com, Go Overseas.com, and studyabroad.com, these programs can often be individualized. Hence, we strongly recommend consulting with the International Office at your home university. They can provide guidance, identify relevant scholarship opportunities, and offer advice on taking full advantage of available scholarships.

In addition to these external financial support options, StudyInBali has a few offerings of its own to assist students:

    • Early Bird Options: Being proactive and enrolling early can offer you financial benefits.
    • Ambassador Program: This is our newly introduced initiative where students can avail discounts on course fees or earn rewards.

Furthermore, if you require assistance or need specific paperwork for your scholarship applications, we at StudyInBali are happy to assist. Making the study abroad experience in Bali accessible and seamless for our students is our utmost priority.

The time there has influenced me a lot. You come back as a different person and see many things differently. Expand your horizons, get to know new people and cultures, get new inputs ... just amazing! Bali was my home for 6 months, on the other side of the world ... and it really was the best experience of my life.

Negin from Germany Southeast Asian Architecture

An unforgettable time! Taking the step and going to a foreign country with an unknown culture, and coming back so much richer, both in terms of study and as a person - it was an adventure that I would love to take again.

Gareth from Canada Tropical Architecture Summer School

The Summer School program is a good opportunity for international students to see Balinese architecture, the indigenous Balinese culture, & designs that you wouldn't otherwise get to see back home. It is a very fulfilling experience.

Niklas from Germany Southeast Asian Architecture

The semester abroad in Bali at Udayana University was one of the most formative and, in retrospect, one of the best decisions I have made in my studies. It gave me a different view of architecture, culture, and myself. It was a step that I would not want to miss in my career and that will influence me today and in the future. "StudyinBali" has always been at my side. The experience created an optimal transition from everyday life to adventure.

Kirsten from the Netherlands Tropical Architecture Summer School

We learned a lot about the difference between Eastern & Western culture. The summer school brings together a group of students from all over the world, all with different backgrounds. It is great to learn in such a nice environment.

Awab from Sudan Tropical Architecture Summer School

Our campuses are located in Denpasar City and Tabanan. The choice of living area would largely depend on the campus where your program is held. Here are our recommendations:

    For Denpasar Campus:

Kerobokan, Umalas, Petitenget, Seminyak, and Canggu: These areas are popular among our students due to their vibrant atmosphere. They are about 25-30 minutes away from the Denpasar campus by scooter, offering a variety of shops, restaurants, bars, and clubs.

Canggu: Note that this area is currently experiencing high levels of traffic, especially during peak hours, which may extend your commute time to the university.

    For Tabanan Campus:

Pererenan & Canggu: This area is closer to the Tabanan Campus, with just about a 10-25 minute scooter ride away. Pererenan is slightly quieter compared to other areas but is developing quickly and still has a good range of amenities.

We advise against staying in Denpasar itself due to the city’s bustling nature which may not offer the serene Balinese experience most students look for. Similarly, Kuta and Bukit (South Bali) are not recommended due to their distance from the campuses and the heavy traffic conditions.

By choosing to stay in the recommended areas, you’ll have a more convenient commute to the university, and you’ll be able to immerse yourself in the lively social scenes and beautiful surroundings that Bali has to offer.
