Students are challenged to think creatively, apply state-of-the-art technology, and sharpen their communication competencies and knowledge base in a dynamic and highly interactive environment reflecting real world scenarios. The program currently offers three areas of study:
- Digital Media focuses on communication technologies in corporations, organization and human relations including device usage, adoptions and applications.
- Organizational Communication teaches students to enhance workplace communication capabilities by focusing on decision making and problem solving within employee relations, management communication and digital interaction.
- Public Relations teaches students to develop strategic messages for diverse audiences and build mutually beneficial relationships by examining advanced concepts, theories, and methods through a global framework.

The Master of Arts in Communication program requires the completion of 36 credits, designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in communication theories, research, and practical application.
The curriculum includes 9 credits of core communication coursework. Students select 12 credits within one of three specialized tracks—Digital Media, Organizational Communication, or Public Relations—each offering targeted courses to enhance expertise in the chosen area.
Additionally, students complete 9 credits of approved electives plus 6 credits of thesis-related coursework. Our unique Communication Portfolio course assists students in transitioning from their graduate studies to an employment opportunity or toward further study.
In all the areas of study within the M.A. in Communication program, you’ll have the opportunity to learn advanced practices, theories and methods from faculty with extensive industry experience and connections. You’ll be able to apply these concepts in real-time as you progress through your degree.
Graduates with the Public Relations area of study go on to work as PR specialists in the healthcare, education, entertainment and sports industries. Those who choose the Digital Media area of study find careers as market researchers, social media specialists and project managers in industries such as healthcare, pharmaceutical and sports.
Graduates with the Organizational Communication area of study go on to work in human resources or communication roles within the healthcare, pharmaceutical and sports industries, or advance into managerial positions. All areas of study can also lead to advanced degrees.
