Key Summary
Basic Life Support (BLS) replaces the certification formerly known as CPR Level HCP. This course is for in-facility care providers, including nursing staff, care aides, medical and dental professionals, and pre-hospital care providers, which may include professionals in a fire service, rescue team, sports-medicine, lifeguards and ski patrol. Participants will gain confidence in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and learn the steps to perform a rapid assessment, Basic Life Support (BLS), and rapid defibrillation.
Basic Life Support (BLS) courses are designed to teach healthcare providers and other emergency responders the skills needed to perform high-quality CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a variety of situations. These courses often cover:
- CPR for Adults, Children, and Infants: Learning how to perform chest compressions and provide rescue breaths effectively.
- AED Use: Training on how to use an automated external defibrillator to assist someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.
- Relief of Choking: Techniques to clear airway obstructions in adults, children, and infants.
- Team Dynamics: How to work effectively within a team during resuscitation efforts.
