Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SEAMK) is a multidisciplinary institution of higher education and an efficient actor in education and research, development and innovation (RDI) in the region of South Ostrobothnia in West Finland.
At the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, SEAMK, students are at the heart of everything we do: we value our students and care about the quality of teaching and continuous development. We have close connections with work life.
Our campus is in a beautiful riverside area close to the city centre of Seinäjoki, creating a great setting for studying and multidisciplinary encounters. Campus studies extend with our high-quality e-learning platforms and methods.
With a student body of 6,000, including about 15% international students, SEAMK offers diverse bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, with seven conducted in English. The institution is supported by a dedicated team of around 400 employees. International degree programs, double degree cooperation, active student mobility and exchange programs, international research and development projects as well as international events are in the core of SEAMK’s international activities.
SEAMK has been ranked among the top three universities of applied sciences in Finland for the sixth consecutive year in the latest results of the nationwide graduand feedback questionnaire (AVOP).
The Finnish Education Evaluation Centre (FINEEC) has awarded SEAMK the Quality Label for Excellence in higher education for enhancement work of an exceptional quality. SEAMK is part of HEROES Alliance which EU Commission selects as new European University alliance to boost smart regional resilience.

Internationalisation
Internationality and international cooperation are an integral part of Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences’ strategy and teaching, research, development and innovation activities. Long-term experience in international cooperation and an extensive cooperation network offer both students and staff versatile international opportunities as part of studying or working at SEAMK.
International degree programs, double degree cooperation, active student, teacher and staff mobility, programs for exchange students, international research and development projects as well as international events are in the core of SEAMK’s international activities.
Research, Development and Innovation at SEAMK
SEAMK conducts research, development and innovation (RDI) with a distinctly practical emphasis, serving teaching and supporting industrial small and medium enterprises (SME) and service production, especially within South Ostrobothnia region. Profile Areas in RDI are Food safety and technology, Intelligent industry, Digitalisation in social and health care sector, Growth entrepreneurship and business transfers, Circular economy and sustainable development. The volume of annual outside research financing is about 6 million euros. Every year, more than 100 people contribute to the RDI activities of SEAMK. All six fields of education at SEAMK have both educational activities and research, development and innovation (RDI) activities.

The SEAMK Campus is located in the Frami area of the city of Seinäjoki. There students from all faculties of SEAMK can interact and enjoy one of the most modern and beautiful campuses in Finland. Student housing and the city centre are a convenient walking distance from the campus. The Frami area is also home to several high-tech companies, which helps you get familiar with your future employers.
The fast-growing city of Seinäjoki is the heart of the South-Ostrobothnia region in the western part of Finland and is easily accessible via public transportation through major routes. Even though the capital of Helsinki is less than three hours away by train, choosing to stay and live comfortably in Seinäjoki can be much more convenient and affordable.
How to Apply
For international students we offer degree programs, exchange studies, shorter intensive courses and open university of applied sciences studies.
For degree programs conducted in English, you can apply either via SEAMK Direct Application or the Joint Application. It is also possible to apply to SEAMK as a transfer student from another Finnish University of Applied Sciences.

Entry formalities
Different permits and processes, such as residence permit for studies, visa, mobility notification or registration of stay, may be needed for entering Finland and staying in the country. The process depends on the nationality of the individual, the length of stay and the reasons for entering the country. Each student must themself check the need for entry permits and/or registration of stay. SEAMK Campus
The operations of SEAMK are mainly located on the SEAMK Campus in the Frami area in the city of Seinäjoki.
SEAMK Campus serves nearly 6000 students and 400 members of staff. The fields of education and RDI at the SEAMK Campus includes Business, Culture, Food and Hospitality, Health Care and Social Work, Natural Resources, and Technology.
In addition, SEAMK has units also in other municipalities through the SEAMK Regional University. These units offer multiform adult education and RDI services in the cities all over the province of South Ostrobothnia. Regional University has offices in the cities of Alajärvi, Alavus, Kauhajoki, Kauhava and Kurikka.
The entire Frami area constitutes a unique study and work place. Multidisciplinary cooperation between the teaching and RDI activities of the different fields will increase, and the opportunities to deepen cooperation with companies will improve further. Our close cooperation with the University Consortium of Seinäjoki will also find new forms.
