Key Summary
A project manager plays a pivotal role in the leadership of a project team in order to achieve the project’s objectives. This role is clearly visible throughout the project. These roles reflect the project manager’s capabilities and are representative of the value and contributions of the project management profession. The programme curriculum modules were designed to widely address and align with the qualifications and competencies of Project Managers as defined by prominent international project management standards and guidelines.
The programme equips the learner with the ability to communicate with stakeholders, including the team and sponsors, across multiple aspects of the project, as well as apply powerful skills to influence, inspire change, and build relationships. Power skills include collaborative leadership skills, communication skills, having an innovative mindset, having a for-purpose orientation, and exercising empathy.
Graduates of the programme possess the necessary attitude, knowledge and skills to act responsibly to carry out activities with integrity, care, and trustworthiness while maintaining compliance with internal and external guidelines, as well as demonstrate commitment to the financial, social, and environmental impacts of the projects they support.
The programme establishes the foundation for project managers to master diverse and creative ways of getting the job done, including predictive, agile, design thinking, or other new practices still to be developed. This will allow individuals to quickly shift their way of working as new challenges arise, enhancing success by applying the right solutions at the right moment in time.
The programme also provides the knowledge required to master relationship skills and business acumen, which entails the development of extensive networks of people across the project manager’s spheres of influence. This includes formal networks, such as organisational reporting structures, and informal networks, such as the use of established relationships with individuals, such as subject matter experts and influential leaders. The use of these formal and informal networks enables the project manager to engage multiple people in problem-solving, as well as navigate project bureaucracies.
The programme is designed to enable organisational leaders and project managers to leverage the state-of-the-art in project management tools, techniques, and technology to realise and achieve organisational objectives.
The Masters in Projects Management Programme is designed for individuals with a higher education EQF/MQF Level 6 degree (in any specialty), appropriate work experience, and who choose to advance their career through excellence in management in addition to their primary specialty and who are in need of in-depth knowledge and skills in the field of Projects Management for the purpose of holding executive positions, accelerating their career development, or progressing in business.
This qualification does not lead to a warrant to practice the profession in Malta. A typical Target Group for the programme may include individuals who meet the admission requirements and are performing the duties or aspiring to assume such duties of the following organisational or independent consultation roles:

Knowledge Outcomes
Programme graduates have the demonstrated capacity to perform the following:
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of project management approaches (traditional and agile approaches) and identify appropriate tools and techniques for each approach.
- Estimate project scope, objectives, resources, and schedule to develop plans for a complex project using appropriate planning tools.
- Evaluate project environment and select relevant management strategies.
- Develop project plans according to contractual and legal requirements, as well as the code of ethics of the profession and workplace.
- Leverage knowledge and skills like supply chain excellence and technology optimisation to manage and control the external project environment.
- Analyse competing demands for scope, schedule, cost, risk, and quality and develop integrated change control procedures.
- Develop procedures and techniques to enhance opportunities and reduce threats to the project objectives.
- Demonstrate appropriate communications and leadership styles that suit different project settings.
- Demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills through the planning and execution of a substantial research-based project or capstone experience, and the tracking of progress through disciplined project management and team management skills.
- Demonstrate mastery of a global body of project management knowledge and practice, including knowledge of research principles and methods.
- Apply high-level critical thinking, strategic awareness, and technical skills to address authentic business problems using project management.

Skills Outcomes
The learner will be able to:
- Create project plans covering the documentation of each activity that will need to take place in order to control the project’s objectives and the costs involved, and detail actions if there are any changes that develop during a project.
- Lead stakeholder engagement utilising interpersonal skills, including taking initiative, integrity, honesty, collaboration, respect, empathy, and confidence.
- Utilising digital technology to manage internationally dispersed teams working on the same project.
- Apply leadership and influence tools and techniques to achieve beneficial changes in the organisational culture, business systems and processes.
- Perform duties applying entrepreneurship spirit and techniques on every level to inspire and increase team members' self-management and accountability.
- Proficiently apply the use of qualitative and statistical tools necessary in project management and interpret project performance data to stimulate continuous improvement.
- Apply critical thinking to justify decisions and judgments that address a complex project management issue, considering the ethical, sustainable, and social consequences.
The programme generally employs the educational methods of “Flipped Classroom,” “Interactive eLearning”, and “Continuous Assessment” through:
- Weekly Online, recorded asynchronous video lectures covering all intended learning outcomes (per module unit).
- Weekly quizzes and/or assignments covering the outcomes of the video lectures. (per module unit)
- Weekly scheduled synchronous online tutorial discussions. (per module unit)
- Periodic synchronous seminars covering all the programme’s learning outcomes.
- Periodic assignments, evaluating the comprehensive understanding of how the intended learning outcomes across different program modules and units are interconnected.
Method of Delivery: Classes are delivered virtually via Zoom and the Learning Management System (Moodle LMS).
