Introduction

The Institute of Portuguese Language and Culture is a teaching and research division in the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, the largest Portuguese university.

ICLP organizes Summer Courses with an average attendance of more than 750 students as well as year-long courses divided in two semesters with approximately 500 students from all continents, mainly from Asia and Europe.

The Portuguese as a Foreign Language courses (PFL) have been organized by the School of Arts and Humanities since 1934.

In the last few years, more than 40,000 students from the world over have attended these courses.

Besides the classes, students can take part in cultural and academic activities promoted by the Institute of Portuguese Culture and Language in partnership with other divisions of the University of Lisbon.
