Key Summary
About: This Master of Science in Applied Mathematics at Santa Clara University (SCU) accepts students with a BS in engineering, science, or mathematics who’ve completed an undergraduate mathematics sequence comparable to SCU’s major: calculus and differential equations, abstract algebra, linear algebra, advanced calculus/real analysis, plus at least five upper-division courses in analysis, complex variables, PDEs, numerical analysis, logic, probability, or statistics. The programme links applied mathematics, computational methods, faculty mentorship, hands-on research, and Silicon Valley industry access.
Career Outcomes: Graduates enter industry or academia; roles include data scientist, quantitative analyst, research engineer, machine learning engineer, in tech, finance, research labs.
This program is open to those students who have earned a B.S. degree in engineering, science, or mathematics, provided that the student has completed a program in undergraduate mathematics that parallels the program of the mathematics major at Santa Clara University. The undergraduate program at Santa Clara includes calculus and differential equations, abstract algebra, linear algebra, advanced calculus and/or real analysis; and a minimum of five upper-division courses chosen from the areas of analysis, complex variables, partial differential equations, numerical analysis, logic, probability, and statistics.
