Focus on responsible tourism management by examining key issues, working with local agencies and tour operators, and experiencing the destination from multiple perspectives.

In the past, we've travelled to Germany, Austria, the UK, and France.

Highlights from our field study in 2024

In 2024, students embarked on a six-day field study through seven communities in northern Vancouver Island, BC. We travelled between Nanaimo and Port Hardy to connect with Indigenous culture and history, and the iconic wildlife and natural beauty of this region.

We met with local tour operators, accommodations and non-profits to learn about their approach to responsible tourism. By integrating creative assessments and reflection activities, we explored key tourism theories and practices.

Note: For the field study, you'll need to pay the course fee and a field trip fee. The fee for previous field trips has been between $2,000 and $2,500 and is subject to change.
