Introduction
The Master's Degree Course in Philosophical Sciences, with a single curriculum, lasts two years and aims to ensure advanced, solid and up-to-date training in the main areas of philosophical research thanks to the high scientific profile, also recognized at an international level, of our teaching staff.
Teaching activities are carried out through lectures, exercises and laboratories, and also include active participation by students, through the discussion of ideas, theories and texts, presentations in class and the writing of essays written in Italian and/or English. Internships and work placements are included, also for immediate preparation for the post-graduate phase.
Attendance at lessons is optional but recommended.
The Degree Course in Philosophical Sciences has a strong and authoritative international profile. In addition to the possibility of study abroad at other universities, through the Erasmus+ program and other international mobility programs, the Course offers its students the opportunity to participate in two courses to obtain joint Italian-French bi-national degrees (Italian Master's Degree - French Master 2): a joint degree with a historical-philosophical profile, in agreement with Sorbonne Université, Paris, and a joint degree with a logical-mathematical profile, in agreement with the Université of Aix-Marseille.
The course ends with the drafting and discussion of a written paper, under the guidance of a supervisor and a co-supervisor, in which it will be necessary to demonstrate that you have achieved a complete cultural education, both from a historical and theoretical point of view.

Curriculum
The Master's Degree Course in Philosophical Sciences is a two-year single-curriculum course that aims to provide advanced, robust and timely education on the main areas of philosophical studies thanks to our teaching staff's high scientific background.
The curriculum of the Master's Degree Course in Philosophical Sciences provides the following:
- a solid understanding of the history of thought and theoretical debates on the various domains of philosophical inquiry (historical, aesthetic, linguistic, theoretical, logical, epistemological, ethical, and political);
- an advanced ability to understand texts and theoretical issues through rigorous analysis of arguments, critical reading, comparative analysis of different positions, and use of bibliographical tools including those related to secondary literature and critical commentaries;
- a mastery of the philosophical vocabulary and methods of argumentation;
- an interdisciplinary ability to contextualize the concepts of the philosophical tradition concerning contemporary debates in applied ethics, humanities, and natural sciences;
- a writing and speaking proficiency (B2 level) in at least one European language other than Italian;
- a computer competence to manage and present texts and disciplinary contents, aimed at public presentation.
Program Outcome
The educational offer of the Course of Study allows you to acquire:
- a solid knowledge of the history of thought and theoretical debates in the various sectors of philosophical investigation (historical, aesthetic, linguistic, theoretical, logical, epistemological, ethical, political);
- an advanced ability to understand texts and theoretical questions through rigorous analysis of arguments, critical reading, comparative analysis of different positions, the use of bibliographic tools also relating to secondary literature and critical comments;
- a complete mastery of the vocabulary and methods of written and oral argumentation of philosophy;
- a high capacity to contextualize and use the concepts of the philosophical tradition, also in relation to contemporary debates in the theoretical, logical, aesthetic, moral, and political fields, the study of linguistic and cognitive structures, applied ethics, human and natural sciences;
- adequate knowledge (level B2), in written and oral form, of at least one European language, in addition to Italian;
- computer skills suitable for the management and processing of information, in textual forms or for public presentation.

The Course of Study prepares for professional profiles in the fields of information, publishing, human resources management, social services and non-governmental organizations, and the world of culture and teaching.
Those who graduate from the Course of Study will be able, as required by current legislation, to participate in the admission tests for Italian and foreign PhD courses and for II level Masters.
Graduates who have sufficient credits in appropriate sector groups will be able, as required by current legislation, to participate in the admission tests for training courses for secondary education.
