Introduction
The Master’s degree in Film, Television and Multimedia Production allows students to be admitted to the international programme IMACS (International Master in Cinema and Audiovisual Studies).
The programme is held by a network of fourteen universities, mainly European, and relies on a wide range of teachings related to the cinema in all its facets, media and visual arts. Topics are covered on the basis of a historical, theoretical or practical vision according to the specialisation of each partner university.
The selected students will spend two semesters abroad and will have the chance to study at two universities being part of the network. At the end of the course, will be issued a qualification recognised from each of the universities attended during the two year period.
The two-year Master's Degree in Cinema, Television and Multimedia Production has as its main objective the in-depth study of the methodological tools for the historical, technological, interpretative, theoretical and critical knowledge of cinema, television and new media, also with reference to the processes of transposition into didactic form of the skills acquired.
Admissions
Curriculum
The course, within a unitary training project, is divided into two curricula.
First Curriculum
The first curriculum, basic and open access, includes courses related to the theory of cinema, film analysis methodologies, the history of film production styles and methods, as well as the contemporary development of digital media, serial narratives and forms of media communication.
The core training consisting of the disciplines that study cinema, photography, television and new media, is joined by the courses belonging to the SPS/08 sector and centred on the sociological study of art, media, visual, political and public communication; and courses related to the study of contemporary arts (L-ART/03), music and entertainment (L-ART/05 and L-ART/07).
The offer is completed by courses in aesthetics (M-FIL/04) and, also in view of participation in competitions for teaching in secondary schools, psychology (M-PSI/01) and cultural anthropology (M-DEA/01).
Workshops are also planned for students, focusing in particular on the professions of film criticism, and internships both internally (to be carried out for example at the Teatro Palladium and the University Radio) and at external affiliated institutions (to be carried out for example at festivals, archives and audiovisual productions).
Second Curriculum
The second curriculum, of an international nature (IMACS, International Master in Cinema Studies) is reserved for a limited number of selected students (5 students for 2023-24, according to the procedures indicated each year in the specific announcement).
The offer of the course, in line with the standards of the international consortium, is mainly focused on the teachings related to the sectors L-ART/06, SPS/08 and L-ART/03.
A preparatory activity for the writing of the degree thesis is also foreseen, to be carried out during the two-year period.
Students will spend two semesters at two different foreign universities belonging to the international consortium IMACS, which allows them to address the same disciplinary areas on which the training project of the Course of Studies focuses, coming into direct contact with the teaching methods and research practised in different countries.
