Introduction
Why choose a double degree program?
The double degree program is a highly qualified international training opportunity that allows participants to obtain a double master’s degree, one in their home country and another in the foreign university.
What are the characteristics of the double degree program?
The route of the dual degree program in Field Archaeology in Greece: interdisciplinarity and cutting-edge technologies, offered in collaboration with the University of Thessaly, focuses on combining cultural heritage studies with science and technology during training to achieve meaningful interdisciplinary collaboration in active field research projects.
Students will spend a semester at the University of Thessaly (Volos - central Greece).
Engaging in international research projects in Greece, including excavation, surveying, exploration, research, and laboratory analysis with cutting-edge tools, is a crucial component of the training in this dual degree program, during Summer months. Moreover, having a deep understanding of the Greek context enables students from the Archaeology LM-2 program at Roma Tre to expand their cultural perspectives and fully engage with the Greco-Roman civilization.
Field archaeology provides the perfect environment to utilize technologies and digital tools, allowing for the creation of new methods that can significantly broaden the scope of observation. Research generates an increasing number of questions about the physical aspects of ancient civilizations, while also providing a variety of answers that can be supported through interdisciplinary studies. Simultaneously, archaeological studies conducted in the field can incorporate insights from present-day challenges to help understand past societies, by examining the interaction between human and natural elements, patterns of change and consistency, and the evolution of societies over time.
