Introduction

Geology students at Rocky Mountain College study geology out in the field on a regular basis. Back on campus, small classes foster individualized learning. Competent, qualified, and experienced faculty practice mentorship, and for the very best students, extensive research opportunities exist. Our graduates create their own future: teaching, research, graduate school, or employment.

RMC's unique location in Montana allows opportunities for students to learn in the natural environment. Students ask real geologic questions and discover answers in the field. Our program uses numerous field trips and student-based research projects to take maximum advantage of our location and weather.

Geology students at RMC have many opportunities to be involved in both field and laboratory research. Our labs are equipped with state-of-the-art petrographic microscopes, rock cutting and polishing equipment, student-dedicated computers, and the latest in GIS mapping equipment.
