Introduction

Followership is a word that isn’t as familiar as leadership and yet is equally important. Without followers, there would be no leaders. And how can a person lead if they haven’t first followed others and seen what good leadership and good followership looks like? Not everyone fulfils the role of a leader, but everyone follows at some point in their life.

As Christians, we’re known as followers of Jesus, but even there, we don’t always follow well because we spend most of our lives following others. It’s important to consider how, as God’s kingdom bearers, we follow and whether we can follow better. This course will help you understand what it means to be a follower, both of Jesus and others, why being a follower is a calling, and how best to fulfil that calling to follow in any context.
