Youโll study Engineering Mathematics, Design, Heat Transfer, Mass and Energy Balance, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Chemistry. Teaching mixes lectures, seminars, workshops and online tutorials. Assessment: two submissions per module (assignments, lab reports, timed assessments, exams).
Career Outcomes: Graduates can pursue chemical technician, process operator, production supervisor, laboratory analyst, process design engineer and project engineer roles in manufacturing, plant operations, quality control, maintenance, sales. The HNC supports progression to BEng degree, commissioning and research.
This course is developed for trainee technicians and engineers, designers, and production personnel working in a manufacturing or process environment within the chemical industry. It develops key underpinning knowledge, skills, and understanding associated with the chemical plant and process plant operations.
This higher education course is in partnership with Teesside University.
The engineering industry in the Tees Valley is growing with many new employment opportunities.
You will be taught through seminars, lectures, interactive workshop sessions, and our virtual learning environment with allocated tutorial support that focuses on study skills.
Level 4 modules: Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Design, Heat Transfer and Combustion, Mass and Energy Balance, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics for Engineers, Managing a Professional Engineering Project, Chemistry for Chemical Engineers.
You can progress towards a degree program in chemical engineering currently being offered at Teesside University.
You must complete two assessment pieces in each module, which can be in the form of written assignments, laboratory reports, time-constrained assessments, and some vocation-specific modules carry an end of the unit examination.
