Introduction
This programme links business principles with sector expertise by introducing you to the theory and practice of modern tourism. The programme also explores issues such as ecotourism and sustainable development. Holding this qualification will enable you to be confident in applying key business and management concepts to a sector which offers wide ranging career opportunities. Travel and tourism contributes a total of 9.8% to world GDP - US$7.6 trillion - having risen consecutively year on year. The sector supports nearly 277 million people in employment โ thatโs 1 in 11 jobs on the planet (source World Travel & Tourism Council 2015). Students who finish the whole program and progress onto Top-Up will be awarded the Northumbria University degree
