Introduction

Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37). Focused on cultivating the whole person (heart, soul, and mind), the Letters program offers a well-rounded academic study for college students to aim for both intellectual and spiritual growth. Beyond the general education requirements, Letters emphasizes the interdisciplinary study of literature, history, and philosophy. The Letters student learns to effectively integrate all three disciplines while acquiring higher reading comprehension, critical thinking, and communication skills essential for attending graduate school, entering the workforce, and/or serving in ministry. Furthermore, the Letters program affirms the Lordship of Christ over every area of life and thus takes the development of a robust Christian worldview seriously. Accordingly, a strong biblical and theological component is included in the degree.
