The PGCert in Law and Economics at Queen Mary University of London is a unique interdisciplinary programme offered by the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS). This course is designed for individuals with an academic background in Law or Economics, providing an advanced professional and academic study of both fields. Students will explore key legal and economic concepts, including antitrust, corporate law, and behavioural economics. The programme consists of two core modules that delve into the intersection of law and economics, equipping students with essential analytical skills. The first module covers market failures and the application of law to economic dilemmas, while the second module focuses on firm formation, financing, and the economics of antitrust and mergers. Students will also have the opportunity to attend optional pre-sessional courses in mathematics, statistics, and law to enhance their understanding of financial and legal concepts. The course is taught by leading academics from the Institute of Banking and Finance Law and the Institute for Global Law, Economics and Finance (IGLEF). High-profile guest lecturers, including professionals from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Bank of England, enrich the learning experience.
