Introduction
Rome is one of the most photographed cities in the world, and yet it always offers new sides to discover: its centuries-old beauty, its inhabitants, life, and unique atmosphere.
Rome is a place where tradition, new technologies, and craftsmanship coexist; in how many ways it can be experienced?
Our Design Academy – which is one of the most ancient in the city -, suggests a very special way to discover its secrets and learn the techniques of photography, drawing, engraving, and printing.
This course is a creative journey and particular attention will be given to the close relationship between the project idea and production phase, to understand the full range of possibilities for a designer. Through workshops, studio visits, and appointments with different material suppliers the participants will understand the real-life aspects of the production process towards completion of the design project.
Accommodation Suggestions
Quasar will help participants find suitable accommodations, by considering all the partner’s options (hotel, B&B, Airbnb).
Ideal Students
This course is for current international university students or for new professionals who wish to enrich their design experience in Rome. It is also suitable for those who have an interest in art and artistic expression and for people passionate about art, creativity, drawing, photography, design, and print.

Program Outcome
Self-produced design is becoming increasingly popular. Self-production is a kind of affirmation of autonomy, but also a real self-promotional strategy.
For this reason, this course aims to deepen the student’s understanding of design principles and creative approaches.
The course is theoretical and practical because it provides an exhaustive background of knowledge and skills, through studio sessions, special visits, workshops in our Academy, and tours of the city.
Academic Credits Info
Upon successful completion of the course, the participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
If the student wishes to convert the class hours attended in Italy into academic credits, he or she will have to arrange a suitable conversion with his or her faculty in the home country, before attending the course in Rome. QIAD can supply the specifications of the module to assist in this conversion. As a reference, the summer program is equivalent to 3 ECTS (1CFA=1ECTS).
