Key Summary

About : The Doctorate in Medical Science (Dr. scient. med.) is designed for those seeking to deepen their knowledge and research skills in medical science. This program often involves original research, contributing to advancements in healthcare and medical practices. Students will engage in extensive training in research methodologies and analysis, equipping them to handle complex medical issues.
Career Outcomes : Graduates typically find career paths in various settings including academic research, healthcare organizations, and the pharmaceutical industry. They may take on roles as research scientists, medical consultants, or academic educators, influencing future medical practices and innovations.

The part-time doctoral program in medical science (Dr. scient. med.) promotes an understanding of the methods and competencies of scientific, interdisciplinary cooperation between clinical research and basic research, familiarises students with the methods and concepts of medical science and prepares them for work in predominantly clinical, but also natural science and/or health science-oriented research.

It is aimed at persons who have successfully completed a relevant university course and who wish to acquire or further develop research competence within the framework of their current or future activities. Relevant subjects are understood to be all courses of study completed whose curricula focus on imparting knowledge and skills relevant to medicine, nursing, health, or the natural sciences.

Selection process

The selection decision will be made with regard to the suitability and motivation of the applicant for the chosen degree program. Aptitude is based on relevant previous training, professional experience, any publications, and presentations.

The university management, together with the head of the study program, will make an initial pre-selection based on the application documents. All applicants included in this pre-selection will be invited by a selection committee of the Faculty of Medical Sciences to a selection interview in Liechtenstein. The committee consists of a representative of the university management, the program management, and at least two members from the circle of lecturers.

The Selection Committee makes a recommendation regarding the admission or rejection of each applicant.
