Key Summary

About: The MSc programme links civil engineering – design and construction of structures, infrastructures – with advanced risk management tools. It focuses on forecasting and prevention of hazards to structures, infrastructures and the soils they rest on, from natural and human causes. You’ll study structural and geotechnical engineering, hazard assessment, resilience, numerical modeling and monitoring for mitigation and disaster risk reduction.

Career Outcomes: Graduates can work as risk engineer, structural or geotechnical engineer, infrastructure resilience specialist or hazard analyst in engineering firms, consultancies, public agencies, research centers and construction companies. Roles involve risk assessment, mitigation planning, monitoring and resilience design.

Mission and Goals

The program links the fundamental disciplines of Civil Engineering (design and construction of civil and environmental structures and infrastructures) with a broad overview of the most advanced Risk Management tools, with particular attention to forecasting and prevention issues concerning structures and infrastructures and soil, on which they are built or embedded, due to natural and anthropic causes.
