The BA in Language, Culture, and World Trade is designed to prepare students for careers that involve international communication and commerce. The program combines language learning with an understanding of different cultures and global trade practices. Students gain practical skills in languages such as Spanish, French, Chinese, or Italian while also exploring cultural contexts. The curriculum emphasizes cross-cultural competence, communication strategies, and the economic principles behind global markets, helping students become effective intermediaries in international business environments.
In addition to language proficiency, students take courses in international trade, global business, and cultural studies. The program also encourages experiential learning through internships, study abroad opportunities, and collaborative projects. These experiences aim to give students real-world insight into how languages and cultures intersect with global trade. The goal is to prepare graduates who can navigate diverse professional settings, communicate effectively across borders, and contribute to international business success. Overall, it’s a well-rounded program designed to equip students with both linguistic skills and cultural awareness.
This interdisciplinary program blends theory and practice, and features three major components: a major in a foreign language and culture (French, Italian, Russian, or Spanish); a professional concentration in one of four areas of international enterprise; and a required capstone course and an internship.
