The Acting for Film and Media BFA program offers students a comprehensive education in acting techniques tailored for the screen and media industries. Students develop their craft through a mix of practical acting classes, scene study, and voice and movement techniques. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on experience, giving students the opportunity to perform in numerous productions and create a strong reel. This prepares them for careers in film, television, and digital media, while also providing foundational knowledge about the industry itself.
The program also focuses on helping students understand the business side of acting. Students learn about auditioning, marketing themselves, and building industry connections, which can be crucial for success in a competitive field. The program's faculty includes experienced professionals who guide students through the realities of acting careers today. Overall, it combines artistic training with industry insights, aiming to equip students with the skills and confidence needed to pursue acting roles in various media formats.
With a conservatory-like model, the acting for film and media major provides sequential training from day one. Our program includes acting training on camera (film, television, and commercial), script analysis, vocal production/speech, physical preparation, voice-over technique, and film/television history, with hands-on training in content creation, podcasts, and new media.
Courses are all taught by a diverse faculty comprising award-winning and major motion picture writers, directors, actors, and casting directors.
