Introduction
The Master’s Programme in Sports Physiology and Medicine is for those who already have a relevant bachelor’s degree and who want to further their understanding in the subject area.
The program gives you deeper knowledge about physical activity, nutrition, and exercise physiology. It also gives you the theoretical and practical tools required to conduct different physiological and biochemical measurements within the field of sports physiology.
The program is conducted in close relation to the sports physiology research conducted at Örebro University. The courses are designed to stimulate critical reflection and to further your ability to search for and evaluate information, independently follow the development of knowledge, conduct scientific studies, and communicate your own studies orally and in writing.
As this is an international master’s program, all courses are taught in English.

Program Content
The program comprises 120 credits alternatively 60 credits and is modeled around the main field of study, sports science, which on this program has its focuses on physiology and medicine. Students who wish to finish their studies after one year are required to do an independent project (degree project) of 15 credits. Students who wish to finish their studies after two years are required to do an independent project of 45 credits.
The program opens with the course Research Methods in Sport Sciences (15 credits). This is followed by three courses within the main field of study sports science (Exercise Physiology at Molecular Level, 15 credits, Molecular Biological Methods in Exercise Physiology, 7.5 credits; and Physiological Methods in Exercise Physiology, 7.5 credits).
The first year of the program is concluded with either the course Degree Project, 15 credits, for those students aiming for a Master's degree (60 credits); or with the course Concepts in Nutrition and Physical Activity for Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, 15 Credits.
The second year of the program begins with the courses Research Overview and Design (15 credits) and is concluded with a Degree Project of 45 credits in sports science.
