About: The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Industrial Engineering and Management prepares students to lead research and innovation at the frontier of the profession. The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology trains leaders and professionals who innovate, design and build resilient, sustainable economies. The programme develops diverse doctoral candidates in theoretical, applied and technology-relevant concepts, systems engineering, operations research, optimization, analytics and management science, so their work achieves global reach and impact.
Career Outcomes: Graduates take roles in academia, industry and government including university faculty, industrial R&D and engineering management, supply chain and operations leadership, and consulting and analytics roles.
The Doctor of Philosophy degree in Industrial Engineering and Management is designed for students who desire to participate at the leading edge of knowledge in the profession. We educate and produce a new generation of diverse students who are proficient in theoretical, applied, and technology-relevant concepts and practices that will have a global reach and global impact.
Almost all doctoral students are supported by a graduate teaching or research assistantships which come with a tuition waiver and a minimum stipend of $2,300 per month. Many Masters students also receive graduate teaching or research assistantships. Students are responsible for university and college fees. If a non-resident student enrolls in 20 credit hours in a year, they will be responsible for approximately $6,800 in fees. Additional scholarships are also available in the college and individual schools.
The School of IEM matches incoming PhD students based on their stated interest with a "faculty Champion" whom we expect will serve both as the research advisor and committee chair.
Degree Requirements
