The Ohio University Post Graduate Adult Gerontology-Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP) Certificate is for nurses who already possess an MSN from a regionally accredited institution and wish to expand their knowledge to the advanced practice role of the AG-ACNP. The 20 credit-hour, three-semester program features track-specific content that meets the core competencies and clinical hour requirements for AG-ACNPs set forth by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and can lead to specialized advanced practice certification eligibility.
This certificate program starts in a clinical placement, students will need an accepted preceptor and clinical site when the semester starts. The Post-Graduate AG-ACNP Certificate program curriculum focuses on evidence-based instructional strategies and teaching techniques as well as role development of the AG-ACNP. The curriculum is offered part-time and includes 750 clinical hours.
The AG-ACNP Certificate prepares graduates for work in such settings as primary care offices, school-based health clinics, hospice/homecare medical practices, retail health clinics, and community health clinics.
