• Students will develop an understanding of the tools of inquiry for K-12 art education, including the ability to design, deliver and evaluate a variety of instructional strategies and processes that incorporate learning resources, materials, technologies, and state and national curriculum standards appropriate to K-12 art. • Teacher candidates will understand how learners grow and develop, recognizing that patterns of learning and development vary individually within and across the cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical areas, and design and implement developmentally appropriate and challenging learning experiences. NSU art education graduates are set to find employment with public and private schools of all kinds. However, career paths are varied and plentiful. Perhaps more than graduates in any other major, art students are trained in entrepreneurial thinking as self-starters, problem solvers, and innovators. Other options include self-employment as professional artists and designers, employment with public and private galleries and museums employment, web-based sales, and promotion, and teaching for colleges and community centers.

Internships

All art education majors gain essential hands-on experience during the required junior field teaching experience and classroom teaching practicums with local and regional school districts.
