Introduction
Our Barre Fitness classes are open to everyone regardless of fitness level or experience. Registration cost is for 8 classes that run every Thursday (once a week for 8 weeks) from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.
Barre Fitness is a low-impact full-body workout that focuses on high repetition of small movements that strengthen and tone your entire body. Anyone is capable of taking Barre, no matter your age and fitness level, and no dance experience is required. It is a hybrid workout, combining ballet-inspired moves with elements of Pilates, dance, yoga, and strength training.
The real difference between barre and other workouts are the isometric movements performed β holding your body still while you contract specific muscles until you shake and feel the burn.
The classes will begin with a full body and joint warm-up, then move to the barre to focus on legs and glutes. The class will then move to the mat to focus on strength training upper body and back, and a targeted core workout. Exercises are primarily body weight, however pilates balls and resistance bands are also used (you may bring your own if you have them but they are not required). Each muscle group is targeted individually with high reps and light resistance to the point of fatigue, followed by a stretch in between each section of work. Barre Fitness combines flexibility, mobility and strength training in every single class.
