Key Summary
About: This 1-year course gives hands-on training in basic construction trades. You'll develop communication, numeracy and IT skills and attend employability sessions. After completing the Level 1 Certificate in Multiskills you can apply for a foundation course in one of the four core trades: carpentry, painting and decorating, and brickwork. Classes run three days a week at college. Practical vocational training prepares you for work or further trade study.
Career Outcomes: You can enter apprenticeships or roles: apprentice carpenter, trainee painter/decorator, junior bricklayer or construction operative. Apprenticeships and foundation training can lead to vocational qualifications and skilled trades.
During the 1 year course, learners will have the opportunity to develop their essential life skills such as communication, numeracy and IT skills whilst also attending additional sessions to help improve their employability.
