Key Summary
Introduction
This programme will provide you with a diverse range of game design skills and the knowledge needed to succeed in the industry. You will have the opportunity to build a portfolio that opens doors in an exciting and ever-evolving field.
Why Study Interactive Media - Games?
The gaming industry is rapidly growing, with technology expanding into new sectors. This programme teaches you to develop concepts from design to finished product, blending creativity with technology. You’ll learn to design user-friendly interfaces, create 3D assets, and code for both games and films. Additionally, you'll gain skills in character design and game environments.
The programme prepares you for immediate entry into the gaming industry, with a strong portfolio to boost your job prospects upon graduation.
AI in the study programme
How is AI used in the Interactive Media programme?
Artificial intelligence is used in various ways within the Interactive Media discipline, such as in pre-production and prototyping. The use and creation of AI, ranging from simple decision trees to complex behaviour systems, are explored through various game development courses. This integration helps you understand and apply AI in interactive media contexts. AI is also used to provide grammar and spelling assistance to accommodate difficulties with reading and writing.
How is AI being used in the workplace within Interactive Media?
Generative AI, particularly Large Language Models and the stable diffusion model, has had a significant impact on the games and animation industry. AI assistance in coding and aesthetics lowers the barrier to entry for prototyping games, revitalizing projects that might not have started otherwise. The use of AI to clean up animations and create usable 3D models for games and animation are anticipated developments within the industry. AI is already extensively used to reduce render times and create crisper images, allowing artists more time to create and innovate.
