Founded: in 1998 by professors at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) as a gGmbH – with financial support from the Körber Foundation and companies

Our Values

We at the NIT feel ourselves committed to sustainable development and to appreciative and respectful interaction in the world, and we have implemented this intention in our curriculum.
Our aim is to enable visionary personalities to put new technologies to use for humankind and the environment. We create ideal learning spaces for our students and further education participants. We provide impulses for innovation and digital change.

In addition to teaching professional and personal competences we set our sights on a unique community in which we network people of different origins and disciplines.
To strengthen this community we maintain an international network of alumni, teachers, and partners. We have also set up our booster club commuNITy e.V. to help support student projects.

Master Studies in Technology Management: Master, MBA or Double Degree Master: MBA and MSc

At the NIT Northern Institute of Technology Management you can study technology management individually. Depending on your personal goals, you can complete your studies at the NIT with a master's degree, a double degree in combination with a master's degree in engineering or natural sciences at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) or with a certificate, for example with an Innovation Manager qualification.

Individual learning paths that fit in with your life

The modules of our program are each designed as an individual digital learning paths consisting of classroom and group phases as well as online learning. Classroom courses take place almost exclusively in the off-peak hours - on Friday evenings and weekends. Thus, the Master's program can be organised according to your life situation and can be completed part-time, alongside a doctorate or, for example, in harmony with family life.

For 20 years, the NIT has attracted outstanding students and lecturers from all over the world. They benefit from an international and intercultural atmosphere in which ideas are openly discussed and innovative projects are put into practice.

No special visa requirements – student visas are available for students accepted at NIT.

Together with Industry partners we offer Industrial Scholarships that cover the whole tuition fee (except for the semester contribution of 4*€ 600 which the student will be invoiced for at each semester start).

These scholarships not only support you with your studies, but also give you insights in one of our prestigious partner companies, such as NXP Semiconductors, Procter & Gamble, Arcelor Mittal and more. Scholarship holders have a special relationship with their supporting companies including possibilities for an internship, paid working-student jobs and conducting the Master Thesis in cooperation with the company. Usually, scholarship holders start a full-time job with their supporting company after graduation.

Excellent chances have applicants with backgrounds in IT, Microelectronics and Microsystems, Data Science and Mechatronics.

The NIT Innovation Scholarship

honors students with strong innovative ideas in Business and Technology and an interest for Entrepreneurship. Business development is a big part of our study program and these students can work on their ideas within our study modules. The scholarship is worth € 7,000.

The CommuNITy e.V. scholarship

is provided by the NIT commuNITy association, that combines partners and friends of the NIT as well as the NIT Alumni association. To apply for this scholarship, you should be socially engaged and participate in voluntary work, e.g., helping people in need or working in projects to help the environment. The size of the scholarship depends on the annual funds of the comunity association.

Rotary Club Green Tech Accelerator Scholarship

Together with the Rotary Club Hamburg-Harburg, the NIT offers a scholarship worth € 10,000 to students with a concrete green-tech business idea they can develop during our Business development modules. The purpose of this scholarship is to help smart talents to find solutions for the challenges of the future and also to contribute to the region of Hamburg-Harburg.

Merit-based partial scholarships

You bring along good grades or very interesting work experience?
Do you have innovative ideas to make an impact for the future?
Are you planning to establish your own startup?
The NIT wants to support motivated talents by granting merit-based
partial scholarships worth up to € 3,000. The number of these scholarships is limited.

Cooperation with DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)

The DAAD supports a limited number of international students with cost-of-living scholarships to partially cover the monthly living expenses. This amounts to up to € 250/month (period of 12-24 months).

The Deutschlandstipendium

provides financial and non-material support to high-achieving and committed students from all over the world.

Study loans for all nationalities

The NIT offers study loans in cooperation with a the Sparkasse Harburg-Buxtehude. The loan will be directly deducted from the tuition fee and consists of three phases.

  1. payout phase, the interest rate is at 4.5% p.a. and starts being calculated with the first disbursement of the loan (November, year of program start).
  2. resting phase, can last up to two years where repayments are not required.
  3. repayment phase, starts in June two years after graduation on a monthly basis.

Brain Capital education funds

Study first, pay later: the Generation Contract is an innovative model to finance your education. With this model, every qualified applicant can study at the NIT completely independent of the personal or financial background without paying tuition fees.
