Introduction

Our 6-week course introduces you to the ancient art of beekeeping. It’s suitable for those looking to set up as a beekeeper. These gardeners are keen to contribute to the survival of our honey bees and those interested in honey bees and their contribution to the natural world.

During this course, you’ll learn about the science of honey bee reproduction and honey production, and discover the healing properties of the products the hive produces such as pollen, propolis and honey. As the course begins just as the bees are starting to prepare for their winter rest, we’ll arrange for you to view the hives in spring when the weather is warmer.

So please join us to find out more about this fascinating little insect, its preferred habitat, its impact on the natural world and biodiversity, and to learn more about what you can do to help our honey bees survive in an increasingly alien world.
