New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), established in 1881 as Newark Technical School, is a public research university located in Newark, New Jersey. It is recognized as a leading polytechnic institution, offering over 125 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across six specialized schools: Newark College of Engineering, Ying Wu College of Computing, College of Science and Liberal Arts, Hillier College of Architecture and Design, Martin Tuchman School of Management, and the Albert Dorman Honors College . NJIT is classified as an R1 institution, indicating very high research activity, and is a member of the Sea-grant and Space-grant research consortia.
