About: Moravian University's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania prepares nurses for multiple roles in 21st-century healthcare. The curriculum blends liberal arts and sciences with clinical education. Students complete clinical placements and two community health rotations across core areas. After four years students finish a nursing research project and a one-on-one precepted acute-care internship. Keywords: nursing education, clinical placements, community health, patient care, nursing research.

Career Outcomes: Graduates can work as registered nurses in acute care, critical care, pediatrics, obstetrics, psychiatric/behavioral health, rehabilitation and home health; they can also work in community and public health, or pursue roles as nurse educators, clinical researchers and care coordinators in hospitals.

Our BSN program is designed to address the multiple roles of the professional nurse within the healthcare system during the 21st century. Development of our innovative curriculum was based on the belief that a strong background in the liberal arts and sciences is necessary to prepare nurses to manage the complexities inherent in the current healthcare system, and to provide safe, quality care to individuals and populations that represent diverse backgrounds.

Academic Opportunities

Clinical Experience
All our nursing students are exposed to a variety of clinical experiences and log more than 1,000 hours in a variety of patient care, simulation, and laboratory practice settings. Each individual clinical group is comprised of no more than eight students.

All students are placed in similar types of quality clinical practice settings and benefit from two full rotations in community health practice settings. Rotations include the following:

  • medical/surgical
  • obstetrics
  • pediatrics
  • psychiatric/behavioral health
  • rehabilitation
  • critical care
  • home health care
  • community agencies

After four years of taking nursing classes in tandem with Moravian University's LinC curriculum, you'll engage in a hands-on clinically relevant nursing research project and participate in a one-on-one precepted internship experience with a registered nurse in an acute-care hospital setting.

Facilities
In 2017, Moravian University opened the doors to the Sally Breidegam Miksiewicz Center for Health Sciences, a 55,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility hosting classes for both undergraduate and graduate programs, including nursing, informatics, and the health sciences.

Faculty
Moravian’s nursing faculty has unique depth and breadth in clinical practice, nursing administration, and nursing education and, as a whole, encompasses most specialty areas in nursing. They are exceedingly accessible and attuned to the unique needs of all students and are actively involved in fostering evidence-based practices in partnership with nurse executives and bedside nurses at local healthcare networks and agencies.
