Key Summary

About: The MA in Animation at MOME emphasizes content development and high-concept projects for film, games and immersive VR. The curriculum covers worldbuilding, scriptwriting, cinematography, set design, editing and sound design, while allowing non-narrative and fine-art approaches. Students produce diploma films with professional crews and grants. After graduation, MOME manages festival runs, distribution and promotion and supports alumni with international training programmes.

Career Outcomes: Graduates can enter the creative industries; typical roles include animation director, character designer, game graphics developer, level designer, previsualisation artist, interactive artist, digital content designer, and roles across film production, VR, game development and distribution services.

The course places a strong emphasis on content development, rooted in the conviction that those who can conceive compelling ideas will always find their place in the world of art and animation, whether they work in film, video game design, or immersive VR production.

Our curriculum is carefully structured to nurture and support each student's unique creative interests across these diverse fields. Students engage with a broad range of film-related disciplines, including worldbuilding, scriptwriting, cinematography, set design, editing, and sound design.

While grounded in cinematic principles, these modules also create space for experimentation, encouraging exploration of non-narrative and fine art–led approaches.

Throughout, the focus is on developing high-concept ideas with the potential to grow into ambitious, large-scale projects in the future. MOME provides professional crews to support the development and production of diploma films through a range of grants.

After graduation, MOME manages the festival run of our alumni’s films from handling submissions to distribution and promotion, helping them gain international visibility.

Graduates can also join international training programmes to build and grow their professional network, find potential co-production partners, and break into the international scene.
