Key Summary
Take on new and emerging markets in an international context. In this course, we will help you to develop vital skills in international business management.
As well as ethical and global management, you will also refine your expertise by exploring the political economy and how it can affect global trade.
You can tailor the course to concentrate on areas that you find most interesting by selecting optional units from a range of business specialisms.
We will also help you understand working practices from different territories and build the skills you need to effectively manage people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Guest lectures, delivered by leaders from a variety of sectors, will give you a well-rounded view of different career paths in international business.
You will also have the opportunity to take an optional 36-48 week internship which will give you a unique insight into how international organisations work. This could be a real boost to your career, allowing you to add relevant, professional experience to your CV.

Business School International Postgraduate Scholarship
International students who have been accepted onto this course starting in January 2026 may be eligible for a scholarship worth £1,500 in the first year of study.
This scholarship can be combined with the Postgraduate International Scholarship, making the total value of the discount £5,000 in the first year of study. This means the fee you pay will be £17,500.
We will assess your eligibility when you apply to this course. You do not need to apply to this scholarship separately.
Year 1
You’ll study several core modules, covering topics such as theories of international business, international strategic management and international business in emerging markets. From there you’ll complete your dissertation.
In addition to your core modules, you’ll also study business analytics and portfolio and project management in organisations as option modules. Whilst studying these modules is compulsory, the credit-weighting of the modules can be substituted for credits gained on the Rise programme in your final transcript.
Please note: The order in which you complete these modules will depend on which date you select to start the course (September or January).

Year 2
Only students who apply for the optional internship route will continue on to Year 2.
Option modules:
- Internship Year: The internship period offers the opportunity to undertake a minimum of 36 weeks experience in a relevant industry, or self-employed option, whilst developing individual competencies and vocationally relevant performance skills through practical experience. Students will apply academic knowledge and understanding to the workplace whilst developing networking opportunities. The content and nature of the learning experiences is designed to develop the students’ personal skills and provide them with the skills and competences deemed necessary to achieve success academically and also professionally whilst in industry.
We want you to be able to explore opportunities across the world with confidence. We will help you demonstrate your expertise to future employers in a wide range of business sectors.
You will be well placed to go for managerial positions in international operations, such as:

- Management Analyst

Study and assessment breakdown
Ten credits equate to 100 hours of study, lectures, seminars practical sessions, and independent study. A master's qualification typically comprises 180 credits, a PGDip 120 credits, a PGCert 60 credits, and an MFA 300 credits. The exact composition of your study time and assessments for the course will vary according to your option choices and style of learning, but it could be:
