Your studies will include a research project, where you can choose to focus on either your own start-up or business development proposal, or a market of interest. Every step of the way you’ll be developing your personal and practical skills that you can put to use in business or in your career.
While the practical skills are vital, you’ll also learn about management systems and analyse socio-political environments. Topics like ethics and sustainability are relevant to any business. With our expert research and teaching staff, and visiting professionals, you’ll hear about the latest industry trends as they’re happening. We provide crucial knowledge and methods in business planning and start-up, marketing and logistics. In addition, you’ll be given the time to critique business ideas and theory in a way that broadens your horizons and expands your thinking. You have options to personalise the course. For example, you can delve deeper into social, ethical and environmental enterprise, or you can gain credit for extra-curricular activities through the Rise programme. You will undertake a research project where you take inspiration from something that interests you - from the course or from your business or start-up ideas, or a challenge you have come across in the business world - and shape the assignment to your personal and professional interests.
Whilst this course is ideal for students with start-up ambitions, or those who want to further develop a business or start a new venture, entrepreneurial capabilities are valuable in any profession or area of employment. The course structure and assessments are designed to develop a range of skills, for example, presentations and reports develop research skills, written and spoken communication and creativity, while the live trade stand develops business ideation, teamwork capabilities, project planning and implementation. These rich and varied experiences develop entrepreneurial capabilities, mindset and motivation, which will help you succeed, whatever your ambitions.
