Key Summary

About: The Phlebotomy Course provides training in drawing blood for laboratory testing, research, and transfusions. You'll learn techniques for venipuncture, specimen handling, and patient interaction. The course covers essential safety protocols and the importance of maintaining sterile environments.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can pursue careers as phlebotomists in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and laboratories. They may also find roles in blood donation centers and research facilities. This certification opens pathways to positions in medical assisting and healthcare administration.

The Phlebotomy course prepares students to take the NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing) certification exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). The course is designed to prepare students to complete laboratory tasks routinely performed in a medical facility.

Hematology, phlebotomy, basic anatomy, and medical terminology are all covered during the five-week course. HIPPA requirements and bloodborne pathogen training are also included in the training. Students will receive hands-on training led by instructors with real-world experience in laboratory procedures, including collecting and handling specimens for testing in both a facility and an outside laboratory environment. Instruction on patient education is also covered in the Phlebotomy Course curriculum. Also, students will be certified in CPR, AED, and first aid. Prepare for a career as a phlebotomist with Midwest Technical Institute's (MTI) Phlebotomy Course.
