Key Summary
About: The BS in Aerospace Technology combines math, science and engineering technology with aerospace coursework. You'll complete minors in Mathematics and Engineering Technology, two semesters programming, calculus-based physics and a senior research project. You'll access wind and water tunnels, unmanned aircraft, CFD software and URECA research funding. High-achieving students double major in Professional Mathematics or Professional Physics.
Career Outcomes: Graduates enter graduate study at Kansas State, Ohio State, University of Tennessee, Embry Riddle and Syracuse. They work in Aerospace Engineering, Flight Test Engineering, Mathematics, Physics and at employers such as HondaJet, Lockheed Martin, Spirit Aerosystems and Air Force Research Laboratory.
The Aerospace Technology program offers preparation for students who want to pursue advanced study at the graduate level. The curriculum includes a rigorous lineup of coursework in mathematics, the sciences, engineering technology, and the more technical courses in aerospace. The concentration’s curriculum requires the completion of minors in Mathematics and Engineering Technology, two semesters of computer programming and calculus-based physics, and the completion of a senior research project. Aerospace Technology students have access to an array of research resources including wind tunnels; water tunnels; small, unmanned aircraft; computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software operating on workstation computers; and undergraduate grant funding provided by MTSU’s Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (URECA) program. Motivated Aerospace Technology students with high academic ability are encouraged to choose a double major in either Professional Mathematics or Professional Physics.
