Our courses give you advanced knowledge in political science while encouraging you to think across different disciplines. You will develop strong skills in both qualitative and quantitative research methods and apply them to real-world challenges.
By working with the latest research, you will explore major changes shaping global politics – such as the impact of new technologies, shifting power relations between countries, and risks to democracy.
This combination will equip you with the knowledge and perspective to understand and engage with the key challenges shaping our world today.
This is a fully online programme, with teaching delivered via digital lectures and interactive seminars. You will take part in online sessions and use modern digital tools designed to make learning interactive and encourage the exchange of ideas.
Our teaching style is highly interactive and based on dialogue, with a strong focus on inclusion and the diverse experiences that students bring. Project work and independent study play a key role, keeping you actively involved throughout your studies.
You will also benefit from close support by dedicated faculty members, all of whom are active researchers across different subfields of the discipline.
Options within the programme
The programme offers two study tracks: when you are accepted to the programme, you can opt to study a one-year master’s degree or a two-year master’s degree.
In the two-year Master’s track, the third term gives you the chance to shape your studies around your own interests and career goals. You can choose to do an internship, take elective courses, or focus on research-oriented courses that prepare you for a role as an analyst or for doctoral studies.
As a graduate of the Master’s in Politics and Sustainable Societies, you will have advanced knowledge in political science and strong skills in analysing complex societal challenges. The programme prepares you for a meaningful career where you can contribute to positive change across different fields and sectors.
After graduation, you can pursue careers in government agencies as a policy officer or research analyst, work with NGOs and advocacy groups as a campaign or human rights officer, join political consultancies as an analyst or communications specialist, contribute to international organisations as a programme or development officer, or enter the media as a political correspondent, researcher, or communications professional. Furthermore, the programme offers an excellent foundation for doctoral studies in political science or related fields.
