The program consists of a set of seven-week online topics intended for students who wish to deepen their paralegal skills or meet California compliance requirements for paralegals under California Business and Professions Code §6450.
- Students who wish to be paralegals in the state of California, particularly those without prior degrees or legal experience who need to meet California Business and Professions Code §6450 requirements.
- Students who have completed the Paralegal Certificate Course© and want to build extensively on their knowledge of law and paralegal studies through specialized topics.
- Individuals with experience and/or a degree who may wish to review the code to determine whether the Advanced course is required for their qualification.
The program prepares students to serve as paralegals in California and to expand their qualifications and specialized knowledge in paralegal studies; completion can help meet the requirements referenced in California Business and Professions Code 6450 for paralegal practice.
- The program comprises 15 different topics covering various specific areas of law.
- Students must successfully complete six of the 15 topics to earn the Advanced Paralegal Certificate.
- Each topic runs in a seven-week online session and awards 4.5 CEUs.
- Up to three Advanced Paralegal topics may be taken during a single seven-week online session; topics may be taken in any order.
- Required textbooks are additional and can be purchased directly from The Center for Legal Studies.
