The Bachelor of Arts Program in Sociology is designed to teach an understanding of social behavior, society, social conflict and change. It introduces students to the functions and underlying structure of human society while broadening their communication, analytical, critical and conceptual thinking skills Completion of the Sociology Program prepares students to interact with diverse cultures, beliefs, and ideas while providing valuable insights into social factors that affect how businesses and organizations operate. This program provides a solid liberal arts foundation for future employment.

Many Mansfield University graduates who have specialized in Sociology go on to pursue graduate school or careers in social services, corrections, business, education, health services, research, and government.Approach Sociology from the perspective of physical health and illness, therapy, rehabilitation, and the organization of health care systems in the United States. Areas of interest also include race, class, and gender in health care as they apply to illness, disease, and ability.Rehabilitation, case management, group work with youth or the elderly, recreation, or administration Fund-raising for social service organizations, nonprofits, child-care or community development agencies, or environmental groups.
