This program prepares students for employment or advanced training in the building construction industry. Instruction focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses the understanding of all aspects of the building construction industry to include planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, and underlying principles of technology, labour issues, community issues, health, safety, and environmental issues. Students receive training in carpentry and installation of drywall, and basic skills in HVAC, plumbing fixtures, electrical components, concrete, and masonry. Training in construction OSHA, fork truck, and first aid are part of this program. Students learn through classroom, shop, and laboratory activities.
