Within the network of the three schools of Design, Engineering and Business

Mainz University of Applied Sciences applies transdisciplinary thinking in order to provide contributions to socially complex issues. Scientific and practical thought patterns of different disciplines are connected in a new way in teaching and research.
Critical reflection, creativity, scientific inquiry, and a solution-oriented approach are key elements in this process.

School of Engineering

The School of Engineering consists of three departments:

  • Architecture
  • Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Applied Informatics and Geodesy

with almost 1600 students enrolled. Currently, 45 professors and 90 lecturers from the field teach at the School of Engineering.

From building design, construction, execution and maintenance to computer-aided measurement methods, our Bachelor's and Master's degree courses offer a wide range of specialization options. Teaching is particularly practice-oriented because lecturers often incorporate their current research projects at the university's internal institutes.

Making our environment safe and keeping it livable

Our construction degree programs at Mainz University of Applied Sciences are just as diverse as the careers in the construction world. From conception, planning, financing, construction, calculation, manufacturing, and maintenance of buildings to renovation, conversion, and disposal, we cover all construction disciplines. You can choose between six bachelor's and five master's programs.

System-oriented and networked degree programs

Construction professionals must understand buildings holistically as construction systems. Our degree programs therefore cover the entire life cycle of the built environment. We consider not only the planning, construction, and operation of buildings but also the infrastructure for transport and water supply โ€“ the lifeblood of modern society.

Through the interconnectedness of the lecture offerings of the various construction-related degree programs, you will acquire a broad spectrum of professional skills and a better understanding of the overall system of the built environment. The system-oriented and interconnected curriculum is a particular distinguishing feature of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
