The bachelor's Program Biomedical Sciences completely revolves around sickness and health. Whether you choose to specialise in the molecular processes in a cancer cell, or would like to know more about exercise Programs for people with obesity; the Program offers a solid foundation for a successful future. You could - for example - become a researcher at a pharmaceutical company that develops new medication, or a physiologist at a university.

Biomedical Sciences is a numerus fixus Program, which means a maximum of 400 candidates will be offered a place. Provided you seriously partake in the selection procedure, you stand a realistic chance of acquiring a place. In the academic year 2023-2024, we were able to give a place to everyone who participated in the selection procedure and met the requirements.

The knowledge you'll gain in this Program can be used to improve the health and wellbeing of people in many different ways. You could end up working in:
Research
At universities and hospitals, biomedical scientistsconduct investigations into the causes and possible preventions ofdifferent diseases, and the processes that take placein our bodies. Others go on to help pharmaceutical companies and biotech firms develop new drugs. You could, for example, end up working onthe development ofnew treatments for cancer patients.
Policy
A diploma in Biomedical Sciences will also allow you to pursue a career in government, as a policy maker at the Department of Health, for example. Gradutes often end up working at government departments where they advise on topics such asthe introduction of new food and nutrition legislation, or new initiatives to promote an active and healthy lifestyle.
Education
If you take the educationtrack in Biomedical Sciences, you can become a biology teacher at a secondary school, or work as an instructor in tertiary andhigher education.
